Our Testing Methodology

1. Hands-On Testing Protocol

Every product we review is tested for a minimum of 3 days of all-day use before we write a single word. For disposable vapes, this means measuring actual puff count against manufacturer claims. For pod systems, this means testing coil longevity, leak resistance, and draw consistency across the full e-liquid capacity.

What We Measure

  • Puff count accuracy: We count. For the Pulse 15K, we got 6,123 measured puffs before the battery died — not 15,000. We report the real number.
  • Flavor consistency: Does the flavor hold up from day 1 to day 3? Most disposables fade after day 3. We note which ones don't.
  • Battery life: We track actual mAh delivered, not just the printed capacity. An 850mAh battery lasts about 2 days for a moderate user.
  • Build quality: We check for leaks, loose mouthpieces, and inconsistent firing across 3 units minimum.

2. Source Verification

We use a three-tier source system for all claims in our content:

  • Tier 1 (Gold): Manufacturer spec sheets, lab test results, and our own measured data
  • Tier 2 (Silver): Verified user reviews from multiple retailers, industry publications
  • Tier 3 (Bronze): Community forums, social media feedback (used for context only)

Every factual claim is traced to at least one Tier 1 or Tier 2 source. We never publish unverified specs.

3. Deal & Coupon Verification

Our deal team tests every coupon code before it goes live:

  • Each code is tested at checkout on the merchant's website
  • We track success rate and number of verified uses
  • Codes are re-tested every 7 days and removed if they fail
  • Prices are verified with shipping included — the "net price after coupon" is what you actually pay

4. Editorial Independence

Our reviewers operate under strict independence rules:

  • No brand pays for placement in our rankings
  • We purchase all review units ourselves — no free samples from manufacturers
  • Reviewers cannot own stock or have employment relationships with brands they cover
  • Editorial briefs are written before products arrive — no post-hoc justification of positive reviews

5. Update & Correction Policy

We update reviews when:

  • A product's formulation or hardware changes (new coil design, new flavors)
  • Price shifts significantly (20% or more from our last check)
  • New safety information becomes available
  • A reader reports an error we can verify

Last-updated dates are displayed on every review. Reviews older than 6 months are flagged for re-testing.

6. How We Rate Products

Our scoring uses a 100-point system across 6 dimensions:

  • Flavor (25%): Opening note, body, exhale, finish, aftertaste, sweetness, cooling
  • Value (20%): Cost per 1,000 puffs, coupon availability, warranty
  • Reliability (20%): Leak resistance, coil consistency, draw activation
  • Design (15%): Ergonomics, screen quality, USB-C charging, airflow control
  • Battery (10%): Actual vs claimed capacity, charging speed
  • Compliance (10%): Age verification, lab testing, packaging accuracy

Products scoring below 60 are not recommended. Products scoring 80+ receive our "VapeHybrid Verified" badge.
